Sublimearts.io — Free Typing Trainer for Windows

Every keystroke,
scored.
No mercy.

BrokenType is a keyboard precision trainer, not a WPM toy. Mistakes cost more than raw speed — Kill Score scales your words-per-minute by accuracy, so mashing through a passage can never beat a slower, clean run.

Four Modes

Pick your engagement.
Same reticle, different fight.

Every mode runs on the same scoring engine underneath — what changes is how long you're in the fight and what's coming at you.

🎯Sniper

One shot. Zero mistakes.

A single sentence or paragraph. Hyper-focused, no-mistake, speed-and-precision practice — the run ends the moment you finish it.

🔫Gatling

Keep firing until you call it.

Text keeps coming, one unit after another, until you press Alt+Q. Every finished sentence or paragraph counts toward one combined run.

⏱️Marathon

Endurance, against the clock.

Like Gatling, but timed: the run automatically ends after your chosen duration, testing whether your speed holds up over time.

🔪Knife

Numbers. Symbols. No mercy.

A single brutal, machine-generated passage packed with numbers, symbols, and accented/unicode characters — not pulled from your file.

The Mechanics

It watches every
keystroke, not just the clock.

Correct characters render clean, mistakes render red, right where they happened — so you see exactly what broke, not just a percentage at the end.

01

Kill Score, not just WPM

Net words-per-minute scaled by accuracy. A fast-but-sloppy run (holding or mashing keys) can never outrank a slower, clean one — that's what "personal best" means here.

02

Live, per-character feedback

The reference text sits as a ghost layer; what you type paints over it — correct in your theme's ink color, mistakes in red — with a blinking caret tracking your position.

03

Alt+P: never guess a character again

Land on an em dash, an emoji, or an accented letter you don't know how to type? Alt+P pauses the run and shows you exactly how — the Windows Alt-code, or a lookup in the Study Panel.

04

Type from your own words, or don't

Load a .txt, .md, .pdf, or .epub and practice sentences or paragraphs pulled straight from it — or skip the setup entirely with the built-in Random Dictionary source.

Customize

Every dial, in one panel.

Settings covers the whole visual identity of the app — no dialogs stacked on dialogs.
