Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Sublimearts.io is an independent software studio operated by Patrick Chen. We build and sell desktop applications for Windows (BackDrop_, ReelNox Studio, TimePeek) and offer web design services. Contact: hello@sublimearts.io.

This policy covers both this website (sublimearts.io) and our desktop applications.

2. Data we collect on this website

Analytics — We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site traffic (pages visited, country, device type). This data is anonymized and not used to identify you personally.

Waitlist & newsletter — If you voluntarily submit your email, we store it in our database (Supabase) and use it to send occasional product updates via Resend. You can unsubscribe at any time; we delete your record on request.

Payments — Purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. After purchase, we store your email address and the license key we issue to you.

Contact & commission forms — Messages you send us are delivered by email and stored only in our mailbox.

Rate limiting — Our API endpoints temporarily process your IP address (via Upstash Redis) to prevent abuse. IPs are not stored permanently.

3. Data our desktop applications collect

License activation — When you activate a license, the app sends your license key and a machine identifier (a hashed value derived from your hardware, not your name or files) to our license server (api.sublimearts.io). This is used solely to enforce the license terms.

No telemetry — Our applications do not collect usage analytics, do not scan your files, and do not upload your content anywhere. Video files processed by ReelNox Studio or played by BackDrop_ never leave your computer.

Offline use — After activation, our apps work offline. Periodic license re-verification happens only when an internet connection is available.

4. What we never do

We never sell your data. We never share your email with third parties for marketing. We never collect data we don't need. We never store payment card details.

6. Data retention & your rights

License records are kept for as long as your license is active so we can honor lifetime licenses. Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data — email hello@sublimearts.io and we will respond within 30 days.

If we make material changes, we will update this page and the date below. Last updated: June 11, 2026.
